Fall Training

2008-2009

This years Fall training started off great.  We were inspired by Lance Mackey at the Fall OFSS symposium and started training the very next day.  We have changed a few things from last year as far as our dogs equipment but all for the better.  For example, we have a new style of collars on each of the dog.  They look like a normal nylon collar until you look at the inside that touches the dogs necks.  Raven's Watch is now making us nylon collars with neopreen on the inside.  They are great for preventing collar rub, do not hold the water ice or snow like a regular collar does and are just all around more comfortable for the dogs.  A couple other things have changed this year.  One being that Dixie-Lee passed away this summer.  She was our best dog in the yard bar none when it came to training in new pups and leaders and will be missed very much this year.  Also Tenasha wont be playing such an active part in the training of dogs this fall due to the fact that we are expecting our first child December 5th,2008.  While she is still doing a lot of one on one training with the dogs and plans on being back on the runners once the baby is a couple of weeks old she is taking it a little easier then last year.

2007-2008

Our Fall training program went great. Started off with a crazy idea of a new way to break in pups that turned out to be Phenomenal and then moved on to dirt training the adults and yearling's with the bike. We did quality training this year rather then starting off with quantity training. Started our training with using a special GPS training device that is helping us keep 100% accurate training records. We used the Bike and put the bikes engine to use to control the speed of the dogs. We are ver proud of the dozen training runs that we did and are proud to say have been flawless. Our one team encountered a oncoming truck which they went right on by with out even the smallest hitch. We were very proud due to the fact that it was the first time up front as a leader on dirt for our one dog Rave. Each time out we discovered a little more of how intelligent our dogs are and how they really do work well together. It was a fantastic start of the year for our training. Hope all of you are had great runs too.
